Yoga

I included this page to encourage my clients and anyone who is attempting to heal themselves to do practices that help one to connect to the body. Asana practice (physical postures) has many physical and psychological benefits. It reduces stress and has positive effects on all of the systems of the body including the prana that flows through the subtle body. Yoga conditions the body to stay supple and strong so one can sit with ease in meditation.

Our spiritual practice is to stay intimately connected to our experience moment to moment. The body is the manifestation of the moment. When we do yoga asanas, we mobilize the bodies’ presence to tame the mind. When our minds are untamed, the body follows the mind so it is important to do yoga and reverse this so that the mind follows the body. The mind can then follow the body to meditation practice and more yoga and to the moment where the body lives. Then our practice comes to life.

There are many types of yoga now available.  Try and find one that includes pranayama (breathing practice), and deep relaxation.   Savasana is the relaxation pose and Yoga Nidra is a deep relaxation practice.   Pranayama helps to calm the mind, balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain and raises spiritual energy to the higher chakras.  A prolonged Savasana or Yoga Nidra practice, integrates all of the energies stimulated during the asana practice.
